JROTC 2017 SUMMER CAMPS

Parents/Guardians:

 

The school year is coming to an end and Magnolia JROTC has enjoyed a successful and busy year. The month of June will focus on 1-week summer camps for Magnolia Battalion’s top cadets. If you are receiving this letter your child has been selected to attend one of the challenging and rewarding summer camps.

 

Camp schedule and pertinent information:

**We changed the BLT summer camp location to Spring High School which enables us to remain in the local area.

 

Camp schedule and pertinent information:

 

Basic Leadership Training (BLT): Mostly NS1’s and some NS2’s are eligible to attend this camp.

 

BLT location and dates: Spring High School, Spring TX.  5-8 June, 2017

Cadets will report to MHS/JROTC by 10AM on Monday morning in the PT gear, properly groomed (males with rugulation haircuts).

Graduation: 8 June, 6:00PM at Spring HS

Cost: $100.00. Cadets will need lunch money for the trip to camp and the return to MHS .

Money is due by 8 May.  

 

 Leadership Academy (LA): Cadets must have attended BLT (not in the same summer) and passed the physical fitness test in order to be eligible to attend.

This camp is designed for our top cadets who may become platoon commanders and battalion staff.

 

LA location and dates: Sam Houston State University Camp, 2245 FM 980, Huntsville, TX 77320.

12-16 June, 2017

Graduation: 16 June, 10AM at SHSU Camp

Cost: $100.00. Cadets will need lunch money for the trip to camp and the return to MHS.

Money is due by 8 May. 

 

Transportation: Transportation will be provided to each camp by MISD. We will bus cadets from MHS to each camp. We ask that parents and/or guardians attend graduation and take cadets home. If this is a problem please let us know so that we can make alternate arrangements

 

Physicals: All cadets are required to have a MISD sports physical, Navy Standard Release Form (SRF) and Health Risk Screening Form (HRSF) properly filled out and signed.  All forms must be current within 1 year. Both camps prohibit cadets with certain medical issues (i.e. asthma, diabetes) from attending, Physicals will be offered at MHS on Wednesday, 24 May after school and at MWHS on Wednesday, 17 May after school.

 

We will provide a detailed packet by 10 May which will contain required camp items, a statement of agreement, directions, contact information and more.
