Welcome to the 2017-2018 School year. My name is Cassandra Cox and this is my second year at Magnolia High School. I teach AP U.S. History and On-level U.S. History. I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Major in History and a Minor is Secondary Education. This year I will be co-sponsoring MHS Model UN. We are always looking for interested students and welcome all those interested. Together with my students, their parents and our wonderful administration, I know this will be a great year.  
U.S. History:
This is a full-year course which traces the emergence of the United States as a world power from the Post-Civil War period to the present, including geographic influences on the country’s historical, economic, social, cultural, and political  developments.

Course topics include:
 Industrialization
 World War I
 The Roaring Twenties
 The Great Depression
 World War II
 The Cold War
 The Progressive Era and Empire Building
 Civil Rights
 Social Changes
 The Presidents and their policies
 Current Events

College-ruled Spiral notebook
Pencils or Pens
Highlighter
 
AP U.S. History

This course is an overview of U.S. history in a college-level introductory course which examines the nation's political, diplomatic, intellectual, cultural, social, and economic history from 1491 to the present. In addition to learning historical content, the course will require students to analyze and interpret various primary and secondary sources of materials. The student will be expected to read and evaluate a large amount of material and involves significant outside reading & essay writing. Successful achievement on the EOC exam required for graduation.  Students are also required to take the AP exam. Fee required for exam.

  • Pens and pencils
  • Highlighters (any color)
