Transcripts- If you need to request a transcript from MHS, click here and follow the instructions. You will need to use your school email on the google form.

Transcripts- Your gpa and class rank is listed on the transcript. Transcripts are updated at the end of the spring semester and at the end of the fall semester.

There are two platforms that are popular with our students. Common Application and Apply Texas. Also, some colleges may not use either of these platforms but give you the option to apply directly through their college website. The two platforms are user friendly along with having help tutorials to walk you through the process. If you use CommonApp, please designate Kara Harper kharper@magnoliaisd.org as your counselor so that she can upload the information that the college needs for admission.

TSI/Accuplacer Student Portal- Get your Accuplacer and TSI scores, find tutorials and practice materials, and test center locations.

The Texas Success Initiative (TSIA2) is a college readiness test. The test includes reading, writing, and math. Did you know that your TSIA2 test scores are good for 5 years?! 

If you are not able to retrieve your scores through the Accuplacer student portal, send an email to kharper@magnoliaisd.org to request a pdf of your scores.

Brag Sheet for Recommendation Letter

Steps for requesting recommendation letters from teachers, counselors, and administrators.

1. Identify Your Recommenders:

• Choose individuals who can speak to your relevant qualities and experiences for the opportunity you're applying for
• Consider factors like their relationship with you, their familiarity with your skills, and their ability to provide a positive recommendation. 

2. Request the Letter:

• In-Person: If possible, schedule a meeting to discuss the request personally. This allows you to build rapport and provide context in a more natural way. 
• Email: If an in-person meeting isn't feasible, a well-written email can be effective. Remind the recommender of your relationship with them and explain what you need the letter for. 
• Be Clear and Polite: Clearly state your request and express gratitude for their time. 

3. Provide Necessary Information:

• Deadline and Submission Instructions:

  Clearly state the deadline for submitting the letter and how they should submit it (e.g., online portal, email). 

• Supporting Materials:

  Offer your resume, transcripts, application essays, and any other relevant documents. 

• "Brag Sheet" or Personal Summary:

  Provide a list of your accomplishments and why you're applying to the specific opportunity, which can help them write a stronger letter. 

4. Follow Up and Express Gratitude:

• Follow Up:

  Send a reminder email a few weeks before the deadline to ensure they haven't forgotten about your request.

• Thank You:

  Express your gratitude for their time and effort once they've agreed to write the letter.

• Post-Submission:

  Send a thank you note or email after the letter is submitted, reinforcing your appreciation for their support. 

Please give respected time to the teacher(s) when asking for a recommendation letter. Approximately two weeks before you need it is adequate.

What is dual credit?

Magnolia High School partners with Lone Star College-Tomball to offer dual credit courses to high school students to earn college credit prior to graduation. Students can begin taking dual credit courses during the junior year of high school. Dual credit courses require students to meet qualification/eligibility through test scores prior to registration. Students begin the process for entering the dual credit program the spring semester prior to taking the courses. Deadlines will be given to students throughout the process, and it is the student's responsibility to make sure they meet deadlines. Grades earned through dual credit courses will be reflected on the high school transcript and LSC college transcript.

SAT Waivers

Sign in to your College Board account to complete the SAT Fee Waiver Request form. 

ACT Waivers

Check with Mrs. Harper to see if you are eligible to apply. When you register for the ACT online or by mail, use your ACT fee waiver code.

College Application Waivers

Students who are eligible for free or reduced lunch may qualify for a college application fee waiver. Check with Mrs. Harper to see if you are eligible. 

NCAA Clearinghouse Waivers

Students that are eligible for free or reduced lunch MAY be eligible for a fee waiver from the NCAA.  During registration on the NCAA website, you can request a fee waiver.  The NCAA will then make the decision on whether one is allotted.

College Visits / Career Visits

Juniors and Seniors are allotted two (2) college and two (2) career visits each per year. These visits must be documented with a letter from the college visited or the company visited, including the student’s name and date of visit. 

**Travel days to and from a college or career visit are not part of this excused absence. A parent note excuse can be accepted for any additional days absent due to travel time to a college or career visit.

College Visit Attendance Information

1. Notify the MHS Attendance Office in advance of your college visit.
2. When at the college visit, obtain an attendance excuse letter from the college’s admissions department. 
3. Bring the letter back to the MHS attendance office.

Career Shadowing Attendance Information

1. Notify the MHS Attendance office in advance of your career day and obtain the proper documentation form.
2. Bring the completed document with signatures to the MHS attendance office upon return.
