Speech & Debate competed at UT in Austin May 22 & 23 at the UIL Academic Speech & Debate State Meet. The Magnolia High School UIL Academic team was represented by junior, Ethan Eyre in two different speech events: Lincoln Douglas Debate and Informative Speaking. Ethan qualified to compete at this level by placing in the top 6 at the district meet and the top 3 at the region meet.
Ethan has been part of the Speech & Debate team at MHS since he was a freshman and was a previous region qualifier in Lincoln Douglas Debate in 2015. MHS is very proud to announce that Ethan was quite successful at the state meet – he was a double medalist! He came home with two 2nd places medals in both Lincoln Douglas Debate and Informative Speaking. It is quite an accomplishment for a student to place in two events at the state meet. We congratulate Ethan and look forward to what he might accomplish as a senior at MHS next year!
