WHO CAN JOIN DECA?
DECA members can begin their experience as early as the ninth grade by enrolling in a marketing, finance, hospitality, business management or entrepreneurship course. DECA Career Clusters. They can retain their membership in DECA as long as they are actively pursuing courses in one of the content areas. As part of a high school chapter, DECA members can take full advantage of DECA activities described below while preparing themselves to be college and career ready upon graduation.
High school students join DECA through their high school chapter, often advised by a faculty member responsible for course content in one of the above career areas. High school chapters are recognized and chartered by the state or provincial association.
DECA membership is open year-round; however, some chartered associations have eligibility deadlines to participate in conferences and competitive events. The deadline for all DECA International Career Development Conference competitors is March 1.

COMMUNITY SERVICE 2016
This year Magnolia DECA has partnered with Angel Reach Foundation to organize a monetary drive to accept donations in order to buy blankets for youth who are aging out of the foster care system. Our goal is to raise enough money to buy 500 blankets, and we intend to reach this goal by using social media as our way to reach out to our community. Our DECA chapter has already created a website where local businesses can host their very own warm clothing drive or members of our community can make monetary donations if they would like to be a part of this movement too.
DECA POWER TRIP 2015
The Magnolia High School DECA students will be in Washington D.C. on November 18-20, 2015 to attend the DECA Power Trip. Students will be able to hear from guest speakers, participate in learning labs, visit college and career exhibits, and have the opportunity to meet new people through networking.
Through participating in interactive sessions, DECA members will be able to use entrepreneurial skills to enhance workplace productivity and career options, use a wide range of idea creation techniques, interpret information and draw conclusions based on the best analysis, demonstrate ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse teams, and act responsibly with the interests of the larger community in mind. All of the DECA members will come together for energetic, educational sessions by guest speakers, Kat Perkins and Bryon Garrett.
To qualify for this trip, Magnolia DECA students were asked to reach out into the community and find sponsors to support the organization.
