What is the TSI?
The Texas Success Initiative Assessment, better known as the TSI test, is a program which determines the appropriate level of college coursework for an incoming student. The TSI test consists of three separate exams: Mathematics, Reading, and Writing.  The test is online and does not have a time limit.  Most students finish in 3 to 4 hours.

Who should take the TSI?
I recommend ALL juniors take the TSI.  The TSI provides valuable information about college readiness, if you plan on taking dual courses or attending a Junior or Community College, the TSI is required.

How do you register for the TSI?
The first step is to see Mrs. Herzog in the U, I will provide you with instructions for creating a Lone Star College account.  Once that is done, we will place you on the list to take the TSI.  We give the TSI twice a year at Magnolia High School during the school day.

How much does it cost?
For students in their sophomore and junior year of high school, the test is free.  If you are a senior, the test is $29.00 for all three sections.  If you take the TSI and fail one or more sections, retests are $10 per section.
