GPA and Class Rank

GPAs
 
All students GPAs (Grade Point Averages) are updated at the end of each semester.  At Magnolia High School, we calculate GPAs on a 5.0 weighted GPA, which is the GPA used to rank students.   All IB/AP/PreAP classes are weighted with a 6.0 GPA.  Below is a chart that represents how GPA points are calculated.  
 
Grades below 70 do not earn grade points.

Class Ranks
 
Students are ranked based on their GPA.  These rankings will be given to students at the end of each semester after the grades have been updated.  Students will be ranked 8 times during their high school years.
 
9th grade - end of 1st semester
9th grade - end of 2nd semester
 
10th grade - end of 1st semester
10th grade - end of 2nd semester
 
11th grade - end of 1st semester
11th grade - end of 2nd semester
 
12th grade - end of 1st semester
12th grade - FINAL RANKING for Graduation - end of 3rd 9-weeks
