Freshmen:  Your GPA and Rank is based on the semester grades; therefore, you will not have a GPA or Rank until the beginning of February!  All student GPAs (Grade Point Averages) are updated at the end of each semester.  At Magnolia High School, we calculate GPAs on a 5.0 weighted scale, which is the GPA used to rank students.   All IB/AP/Advanced classes are weighted and based on a 6.0 GPA.  Below is a chart that represents how GPA points are calculated.  
 
Grades below 70 do not earn grade points.  Hint:  Much lower GPA!

Class Ranks
 
Students are ranked based on their  GPA from the highest to the lowest.  These rankings will be given to students at the end of each semester after the grades have been updated.  Students will be ranked 8 times during their high school years, be sure to make each one count!
 
9th grade - end of 1st semester
9th grade - end of 2nd semester
 
10th grade - end of 1st semester
10th grade - end of 2nd semester
 
11th grade - end of 1st semester
11th grade - end of 2nd semester
 
12th grade - end of 1st semester
12th grade - FINAL RANKING for Graduation - end of 3rd 9-weeks
